Recently, Nissan posted a vague press release accompanied by a dimly lit photograph as a teaser for a new concept debuting at the Tokyo Auto Show. This new Nissan electric car concept is described as part of the company’s “future vision of car intelligence and electrification.” The information that the concept will be electric has led many to believe this is the unveiling of the next-generation Leaf.
The first hint that the concept is an all-new Leaf comes from the fact that the released teaser picture has the front of the car illuminated in blue light, which is a recurring motif with the Nissan Leaf. The overall styling of the car, however, is similar to the new Nissan Maxima, with a V-motion grille and flared-out wheel arches.
If the vehicle is not a Leaf, however, that means Nissan will have a second all-electric vehicle joining the Leaf in its lineup. However, after several mid-cycle upgrades and refreshes including a better battery range for the 2015 model year, the Nissan Leaf is long overdue for a new generation. The Nissan electric car concept could be exactly that. Tell us at 171 Nissan what you think of the new Nissan Electric Teaser in the comment below!
