Showing off some of its innovative parking technologies, Nissan recently developed the first Intelligent Parking Chair. You heard right. Engineers developed this pet project using intelligent park assist technology, creating chairs that automatically arrange themselves.
Although you might initially think there is a ghost in the room, the Intelligent Parking Chair is capable of finding its “target position,” or place at the table, and move 360 degrees to get there. According to Nissan, four cameras in the room’s ceiling generate a bird’s-eye view to wirelessly transmit the chairs position and its route, and a small motor propels the chairs forward.
“With this innovation in office technology, Japanese businessmen are now freed from the troublesome task of arranging chairs, using this new technology already adopted in the European model X-Trail Hybrid and other Nissan vehicles around the world,” read the Nissan website.
Videos of the Nissan technology caused quite a stir on video-sharing websites like YouTube, demonstrating just how intelligent the Nissan engineering and design labs are becoming. A single clap of the hands and the chairs spring to life, finding their place in the room. This is just one more way Nissan sets itself apart from other brands.
