When the new Nissan Titan XD was launched last year, it only offered a single engine: a Cummins 5.0-liter V6 turbodiesel that produces 310 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque. It’s no slouch, but some of our customers at 171 Nissan were wondering—what about a gas-powered engine? What about a V8?
Well, Nissan has heard the requests and delivered, as the new 2016 Nissan Titan XD is now available with a gas-powered 5.6-liter V8. It’s cheaper and makes 390 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque, a whopping 73 horsepower and 16 lb-ft of torque more than the V8 that powered the previous Titan, thanks to direct injection, a significantly higher compression ratio of 11.2:1, and improved thermal efficiency. And we thought the original Nissan Titan XD was powerful!
That extra horsepower makes the V8 feel quicker and more responsive than the diesel, though the diesel’s superior torque gives it the towing advantage—at least at sea level, where the turbocharger still has air to suck in. Be sure to visit us at 171 Nissan to understand all of the differences between the two engines and make your decision! We love talking about the new 2016 Nissan Titan XD and telling our customers about its great performance!
