The dream of gamers around the world is about the come true, with the chance to turn their virtual driving skills into real life racing credentials. Welcome to GT Academy 2016. This is a collaborative project between Nissan and PlayStation where gamers can compete for the best lap times while playing Gran Turismo Sport.
Currently, the competition is open to gamers in Australia, Indonesia, Mexico, North Africa, the Philippines, and Thailand. More regions will have their own competitions when Gran Turismo Sport officially launches on the PlayStation 4 on November 15th. Here at 171 Nissan, we anticipate (and very much hope) that North America will be part of that release.
Gamers from each region with the fastest lap times are invited to the GT Academy, where they go through intense, face-to-face, real world race challenges where the winner of that competition gets the opportunity to become a NISMO Athlete.
The first GT Academy competition was held in 2008 and since then the program has stunned the racing world with its success. GT Academy winners that are current NISMO Athletes include Jann Mardenborough, Lucas Ordonez, Ricardo Sanchez, Romain Sarazin, Matt Simmons, and others.
While the competition currently isn’t open for North America, that doesn’t mean you can’t start practicing!
