Tips For Staying Safe In the Summer

Summertime by the Beach

With the kids home from school all summer, it’s a great time to have some extra family fun. However, it can also be one of the most dangerous times of the year. Follow these simple tips to keep your family safe in the summer.

  • Stay cool. Playing outside and getting some sun is great. However, to prevent any heat-related illnesses, remember to stay cool by wearing appropriate clothing, staying hydrated, using sunscreen, and seeking the shade when you can. Also remember to never leave a child or pet unattended inside a vehicle.
  • Water safety. Make sure all children use appropriate flotation devices. The “puddle jumpers” are a popular and functional choice for young children. Also, never leave your children unattended in the water and do not rely on the lifeguard to watch your children. Consider enrolling children ages 3 and up in swimming lessons.
  • Don’t get bitten. Bug bites are not only a nuisance, but can lead to insect-related diseases like Lyme disease, West Nile Virus, and others. Use an insect repellant while playing outdoors and check everyone, including yourself, for ticks.

Nissan Heads to ZCON in Memphis

2016 Nissan Maxima

2016 Nissan Maxima

Every year, the Z Car Club Association celebrates its love of Nissan by holding a convention. This year, the 28th Annual International Z Car Convention (ZCon) was held in Memphis.

Nissan, of course, attended the convention and hit the road to ZCon in Memphis with fellow enthusiasts, VIPs, and employees on a 220-mile road trip from Nissan headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee.

At the convention, Nissan showcased an exciting lineup of past and newly-released cars, including the entire NISMO lineup, an original 240Z, a 2009 40th anniversary Z, the all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima, and the 2016 Nissan Titan XD. The featured car at the event was a 1974 260Z 2+2—the last Nissan lease vehicle used by the late Yutaka Katayama.

“ZCON is a great opportunity to showcase some of our most exciting vehicles – past and present – and celebrate Nissan’s rich sports car heritage alongside an outstanding group of enthusiasts,” said Pierre Loing, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc, in a statement. Furthermore, “with this year’s event so close to Nissan’s North American headquarters, it’s only fitting that we join Nissan fans on a road trip with an incredible lineup of Z cars, NISMO vehicles, the all-new 2016 Maxima and 2016 TITAN XD and more.”

At the event, held July 14 through July 18, attendees could participate in an autocross competition, driving tours, raffles, and more.
