One of the biggest problems when traveling or moving is trying to fit everything in your vehicle (2017 Nissan Altima, anyone?). We’ll share some of our favorite space-saving tips that will make packing your car a breeze!
- Pack similar items together – Make sure that you have breakable items at least kind of together. This will help you make sure that they’re placed carefully in a low-risk area of the car.
- Take advantage of all space – The trunk isn’t the only place to store things in a car! Store items under seats and anywhere else you can find it.
- Use bags, not boxes – As you may realize, it can be hard to fit a squared-off object into a rounded car interior. By packing in bags your cargo becomes more pliable and easier to fit.
- Bonus tip: use vacuum bags for even more space!
- Use an overhead carrier – There will always be times when you just need more space than you have. Add a carrier to the top of your car and pack it with the items you know you won’t need until you reach your destination.
Whether you’re going on a road trip, leaving for vacation or moving, let’s face it: space is always coveted when packing your car. Make the most of it with a new 2017 Nissan Altima sedan from 171 Nissan in DeRidder, LA![Top]
Every year at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, the best looking vehicles are recognized and rewarded. This year, Nissan’s innovation Vmotion 2.0 concept earned the EyesOn Design Award for Best Concept Vehicle.
The EyesOn Design award winners are chosen by a panel of automotive design leaders from around the world. The award is given to both the best concept vehicles and best production vehicle at the NAIAS.
Mamoru Aoki, executive design director, Nissan Global Design Strategy, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., said, “This prestigious award, earned from top design leaders from around the world, exemplifies the enormous potential of Nissan’s newest design direction. We’re honored to be here and excited to continue to show the world the limitless capability of Nissan design.”
Vmotion 2.0 represents the future of Nissan’s production sedans, both in design and technology. While it might seem to be off in a far distant future, technology like autonomous driving isn’t too far off at all.
Along with its autonomous technology, Vmotion 2.0 has a “floating roof” design and crisp character lines throughout the car’s body. On the front end, sharp cut-outs and a 3D “V-motion” grille give the concept its distinct look.
What do you think of Nissan’s Vmotion 2.0 concept?[Top]
When it comes to helping save homeless animals and improving their health and welfare, no one does more than the Animal Rescue Foundation of Louisiana (ARFLA). ARFLA’s effects can be seen across the state, including here in DeRidder.
ARFLA is a non-profit organization that strives to protect the animals around Louisiana who can’t protect themselves. Their physical shelter is located in Lafayette, but they frequently have adoption and fundraising events in other parts of the state. They rescue animals through a variety of sources, including picking up abandoned animals, rescuing dogs from high kill shelters, taking animals from people who cannot keep their pets, and taking litters of puppies in when the owners agree to have the mother spayed.
If you’re looking to add a new furry friend to your family, please consider choosing ARFLA as your pet adoption center. Every animal available for adoption has been fully vetted and temperament tested before being eligible for placement. In addition, all animals receive the necessary veterinarian care, including vaccinations, de-worming, spaying or neutering, microchipping, heartworm testing and treatment, necessary surgeries, and, of course, love and care.
To adopt a dog from ARFLA, you first need to fill out the adoption application. You can also help by donating needed supplies or donating money to the shelter.[Top]
Nissan is working harder than ever to partner with Habitat for Humanity, an organization that creates affordable housing for those in need. Nissan has pledged millions of dollars to the organization over the years in order to help those in the community, and it has also recently renewed a specific campaign in the Nashville area.
According to Nissan, the brand recently launched the House the Media Built campaign by drawing over 50 prominent journalists from around the globe in order to cover a new story on a house being built in Nashville. In addition to donating funds over the years, the Nissan brand has also managed to donate vehicles and volunteer, helping to build over 71 homes across the US in the past decade.
“Nissan began its relationship with Habitat for Humanity more than a decade ago with a donation of $1 million, 50 TITAN trucks and an abundance of employee volunteer time following Hurricane Katrina,” said Dan Bedore, director, Nissan Division Communications. “This relationship goes to the heart of our values, not only as a corporate citizen, but as neighbors in the communities in which we live, work and serve.”
The Nissan and Habitat for Humanity partnership is stronger than ever. The organization has managed to build more than 770 homes in the greater Nashville area, many of which were paid for in part by funds from Nissan. This is just one more way the company is giving back. Find out more about how 171 Nissan is helping to give back as well![Top]
Summer is gone and fall has arrived, which means it’s time to take care of your car’s regular maintenance! Take the time to ensure your vehicle is up and running smoothly, especially before winter arrives—the cold weather will only make problems worse. If you aren’t sure what to do, here are some proper fall car care tips from us here at 171 Nissan.
- Oil – There’s a reason oil usually makes it onto car care lists. Oil plays three major, crucial roles in your engine, which is why it’s important to keep up with proper maintenance. Check your owner’s manual to see when your car needs an oil change. Old oil won’t perform as well as the weather grows colder and that can cause major problems.
- Engine – Speaking of the engine, have any problems like rough idling, stalling, and hard starts, address it immediately. Doing so will save you a bundle of money and a good amount of headaches as it gets later in the year.
- Lights – Fall and, subsequently, winter are a good time to address your headlights. Replace any burnt-out bulbs, clean the lenses, and inspect areas around the lights for chips, cracks, dents, or other possible problems. You’ll be glad you did!
Among the vehicles in the Nissan lineup, one of the most popular is the Nissan Rogue. The Rogue has continued to appeal to drivers looking for economic crossovers, one of the largest growing segments in the automotive industry. However, Nissan is never one to rest on the laurels, always looking for new ways to improve—and they have some pretty impressive improvements coming to the Nissan Rogue.
A press release recently published by Nissan outlines all of the improvements coming to the 2017 Nissan Rogue. Among those improvements are additions to the Nissan Rogue’s safety systems. As a part of the Nissan Safety Shield Technologies, the 2017 Nissan Rogue will see the addition of systems like Forward Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Detection.
However, perhaps the most exciting change coming to the Nissan Rogue is the addition of the Nissan Rogue Hybrid to the vehicle lineup. This new model can achieve a fuel economy of 35 mpg on the highway!
“There are so many enhancements to Rogue for 2017, with every one of them designed to enhance its appeal with the fastest growing segment of buyers in the industry,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc.
Don’t miss your chance to get a hold of the 2017 Nissan Rogue, which improves on what was already great. Stop in to 171 Nissan today to find out more about the Nissan Rogue.[Top]
Nissan has extended their range for which phones can connect to their newest Nissan Maxima. For the 2017 Nissan Maxima, Nissan will be including Apple CarPlay! We can’t tell you how excited we are for this here at 171 Nissan!
For those of you who don’t know, Apple CarPlay basically turns your car into an iPhone. All the cool things you can ask of Siri (be sure to ask what Zero divided by Zero is) can now be done while you are driving your vehicle, in a way that keeps you and other drivers on the road safe. Just like your iPhone, when your car features Apple Carplay, you can talk to Siri using voice commands, which keeps your eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel.
Currently, many other automakers already include Apple Car Play in their vehicles, including Ford, GM, Honda, and Mitsubishi. Now adding to this list will be Nissan with its integration into the new 2017 Nissan Maxima. The best part about Nissan including this new technology, it’s doesn’t hike up the price like it might with other carmakers! The price difference between the 2016 and 2017 is no more than $50 for any trim level! That’s less than buying a new iPhone!
As you can tell, we are pumped about the latest addition to the Nissan Maxima and can’t wait to try out this new feature at our dealership! Be sure to stop by and check out the technology yourself and see how cool and easy it can be![Top]
