Expanding its all-new truck lineup even more, Nissan showed off the 2017 Nissan TITAN at the New York Auto Show. This half-ton pickup is expected to be Nissan’s best-selling truck and is a little bit smaller than the recently introduced TITAN XD.
“The 2017 TITAN half-ton has the same aggressive style of the TITAN XD, but is about a foot shorter in wheelbase,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc., in a statement. “They share the same cabs, but while it offers similar ruggedness and durability, the TITAN half-ton’s chassis is completely different than XD.”
Powering this all-new truck is a 5.6-liter Endurance V8 gasoline engine rated at 390 horsepower. This will be paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Initially, the 2017 Nissan TITAN will come only in a Crew Cab design, but both a Single and King Cab variations will be added later. The Crew Cab will arrive in dealerships this summer.
With the addition of the TITAN XD and the all-new 2017 TITAN, Nissan’s full-size pickup lineup will have a wide range of options for buyers to choose from, including two chassis sizes, two fuel options, a range of cab and bed sizes, and so much more.
Here at 171 Nissan, we love the 2016 Nissan TITAN XD and can’t wait to see the all-new 2017 Nissan TITAN when it arrives later this summer.
“If your towing needs strain the capabilities of existing half-ton pickups but you don’t want to make the stretch to an expensive, stiff-riding heavy-duty pickup, the Titan XD might be in the sweet spot,” claims Edmunds.com.
Nissan recently revealed it’s newly redesigned, second generation, full-size pickup at the North American International Auto Show. The 2016 Nissan Titan provides consumers with the choice of: two frame sizes, the larger being the XD, three cabin configurations, five trim levels and three bed lengths.
The first version to be released, the Titan XD, will be available to consumers late 2015. Under the hood, the Titan XD encloses a 310 hp 5-liter Cummins V8 turbo-diesel engine controlled by an Aisin six-speed automatic transmission. A V6 version and a gasoline powered V8 will be soon to follow.
The Titan XD also comes equipped with 12,000 lbs of towing capability and a payload capacity of 2,000 lbs. Updated features include: a gooseneck trailer hitch, lockable storage box beneath the rear seat, additional locked storage reachable from the bed, and LED lighting on the bed rails. Safety features include Nissan’s surround-view camera system, blind-spot warning, and moving object detection.
Come test drive this new brawny Titan later this year and find your sweet spot at 171 Nissan![Top]
