Expanding its all-new truck lineup even more, Nissan showed off the 2017 Nissan TITAN at the New York Auto Show. This half-ton pickup is expected to be Nissan’s best-selling truck and is a little bit smaller than the recently introduced TITAN XD.
“The 2017 TITAN half-ton has the same aggressive style of the TITAN XD, but is about a foot shorter in wheelbase,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc., in a statement. “They share the same cabs, but while it offers similar ruggedness and durability, the TITAN half-ton’s chassis is completely different than XD.”
Powering this all-new truck is a 5.6-liter Endurance V8 gasoline engine rated at 390 horsepower. This will be paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Initially, the 2017 Nissan TITAN will come only in a Crew Cab design, but both a Single and King Cab variations will be added later. The Crew Cab will arrive in dealerships this summer.
With the addition of the TITAN XD and the all-new 2017 TITAN, Nissan’s full-size pickup lineup will have a wide range of options for buyers to choose from, including two chassis sizes, two fuel options, a range of cab and bed sizes, and so much more.
Here at 171 Nissan, we love the 2016 Nissan TITAN XD and can’t wait to see the all-new 2017 Nissan TITAN when it arrives later this summer.
There’s no denying that the Nissan Titan is one hard-working, tough truck. Nissan is taking a closer look at the Titan’s evolution in a new video series called the Titan Truckumentary.
Nissan has released a teaser video to prepare for the series, which will begin in mid-December. More than a dozen videos will be released over the coming year in preparation for the next-generation Titan.
“The ‘Truckumentary’ is not meant to be the all-encompassing last word on Titan,” said Chief Product Specialist for the next-generation Titan, Rich Miller, in a statement. “Rather it’s the continuing story of the vehicle’s evolution, accompanied by a close look at the American-based team that is bringing this all-new truck to market.”
In the series, we’ll learn about how the Nissan Titan came to be, it’s progression over the years, and the future of the Titan, including the Cummins diesel engine that will be available soon.
